Bideford and Arlington Court (yesterday)

Just to prove the sun does shine on the not so righteous sometimes (yesterday) we had a glorious autumnal day in Devon.  We wandered the streets of Bideford and found many high street shops as well as some of the obligatory junk shops (sorry, nouveau antiques) that we love to frequent. The Pannier Market is on a Tuesday and Saturday so we missed out and some of the more unusual shops follow the market opening at this time of the tourist season so we missed out on them to. We managed to find a super eatery that did a naughty lunch for me (egg and chips) whilst the Wilf one had liver and bacon with mashed spuds and the bill came to under £12.

We then moved on to Arlington Court, what turned out to be a superb National Trust property (can you tell we are members?). The grounds housed a historic carriage collection, carriage rides, the house, a lake walk and the most marvellous kitchen garden and well worth a visit. I am so inspired that I will go home and dig my vegetable beds, maybe. They were still harvesting climbing beans, beetroot, lettuce and the gourds were trained over arches! What more can I say!
